MeenGreenAudio Posted September 12, 2013 Author Report Posted September 12, 2013 i have heard alot about both sundown and dd audio but once again it all comes down to price and im not trying on going broke however i was thinking of sundown for amps and eventually some neopro mids i have used them before and i love them. ncochran Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 For amps I would consider AQ if you are on a budget. The 3500 seems like a pretty good price for the power that it makes. Cheaper than a lot of the other companies (a lil cheaper than some and way cheaper than others). You can pick up a minty used one for around $600 on CACO or on here sometimes. That box looks clean, but I am guessing it flexes a lot and if it doesn't now, it will with stronger subs in it. Like someone said above, double baffle for sure and bracing. I built a box for my sa 12s that is very close to that design. I double baffled it, but braced it poorly and it flexes horribly (to the point I am about to rebuild it instead of even trying to brace it) And that is on about 1700W (running brz-2100 at .5 ohm with weak electrical). If you manage to get a set of btl subs they will probably eat your box. Nice start though! Take your time and you will find later that it is well worth it. My first setup I spent weeks working on and it was really really nice (it is in my build log)... My second build I rushed (built it on a Sunday afternoon, no trim work and box not sealed properly) and am completely unsatisfied with the results. It is a good bit louder than the first, but ugly and doesn't sound as clean. MeenGreenAudio Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 i also ended up getting a power akoustik crypt series 1200x4 amp and some tsunami wires i am getting a stinger voltmeter and im putting in a clarion 7 band eq that i have had sitting around for awhile i also had a 5 farad cap laying around so i threw it in too i think im gonna get a capacitor but i dont know yet but i threw this one in for shitz and giggles. I think your doing a good job for your first build and to only be 16.If you listen to some of the people here on this forum and try to learn as much as you can, I see you getting 10x better at this and one day you will be the one saying this to some new guy on the forum.
