I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. Guest
the size of the woofer doesn't indicate how well it can play lows. smaller woofers are not "punchier" and larger woofers are not "sloppier". the box dictates how the woofers sound. The_Iceman
I don't keep up with where I read everthing, sorry. And I never said a 12 is for rap and a 10 is not, if you can find that please God quote it. I said a 10/8 has tighter responses. Never said it was a big difference or you had to have a certain size for a certain music. If you can find me saying that please quote that as well And I also said that the box made a difference in how it sounds. Krakin
He was making a comment about how many people who don't know what they are talking about say comments like that. But the size of the sub still doesn't dictate if its response will be tighter or not. The_Iceman
So your saying an 10 and 18 from the same company. Same type, both in companys recommended box specs. Will play the exact same response wise on a real complex bass line? Krakin
There is much more to it than that. But I don't feel like going into the explanation of group delays, AC wattage, ect..
