militarybass Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 so in july i put hdc312 with an aq 1200 in. along with a memphis 500watt 4 channel. i did the big three under the hood minus the engine block ground cause its a pain in the ass. i have an 06 mustag gt.stock battery and alternator. i have everything ran perfect. i have everything tuned to 28 volume out of 35 or 36 on the deck with a signal booster. when im going down the highway i notice some songs or bass notes at vol 28 my car seems like its tugging...voltage drop i guess, idk. so im wondering if i were to put like an xspower 2400 in if it would help my problem. i know i need a new battery anyways but idk if i should start with a new alt first or battery.
Kenyel Dotts Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 First find out if you do have a voltage drop. I would say battery if you are not at full tilt all day every day. If you are then I would recommend alt first. But I would look to replace the battery soon after alt. But I really think you just may need a battery only. Don't think that you are pulling that much power But it is always good to have extra juice. King dingalingIts not finished till i say so Bit@^!
john253a Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Without the engine earth YOU HAVE NO BIG 3 The engine does the earth for the alt Do that first Second Get yourself a voltage gauge Third Batt Look at the 3100 it's the best bang for $$$ If it doesn't fit get the highest cc's you can in there Then if you need a alt get that forth
militarybass Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Posted September 22, 2013 thanks guys. ill def do the ground next weekend and order a voltage meter. had planned on a new batt anyways so ill go with that first and if i dont see a difference ill get an alt as well. post pics later.
