Krakin
The first graph is of the same woofer in three different enclosures, the second is of three different enclosures all in the same enclosure just to show that the same box will act different with different drivers. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. bumpinTL364
Okay, so the box advisor from this website first gave me a QTS of 0.429 while Rockford claims .47. I had to calculate the QTC of the driver and in a 0.7cubes box it come out to 0.5955. Given the rest of my parameters, I came out with an Fb of 34hz, Vb of .7cubes, and a port of 2" diameter by 8.65" long. Rockford suggests tuning to 36hz with a .65cubes box and a 2" diameter by 7" long port. Does the box the other website sound accurate to you? I think I might start designing that up if so... masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Best advice I never got, and now it's too late My build: 12" DCON in a dorm room. Krakin
I would suggest to stay with Rockford's measurements. They are a very well established company that I am sure has the knowledge and resources to get the most accurate reading. As for my suggestions I guess I just don't see it but what model driver are you looking at? A link would help the most. bumpinTL364
Ah sorry, here she is: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1s4-8 and yeah I'd agree that Rockford definitely knows what they're talking about, but it has ALWAYS (no matter what brand) seemed to be the consensus that one should build their own box for optimal performance matched to their application. For me, the woofer is going to be under a bed, and I'm looking for the lowest tones I can pull out of this woofer, so I feel a box that's a little bit bigger and tuned a bit lower should fit the bill masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Krakin
You might be able to squeeze a T-Line under there if you have nothing else under it. If you go that route you won't have to worry about what to tune to, what size port area, or what volume of box you need, as that is all very straight forward in those enclosures. Not to mention they sound amazing. bumpinTL364
true, had a t-line for my 12" in my last build and holy motherfuck....might go that route, I don't have unlimited space, but i feel like i have plenty for a smaller t-line like it'd be for this woofer. going to do up a sketchup asap on that one. I really like being able to vibrate my bed so I'm thinking about port and sub up but maybe i'll do a few different setups and see what works best masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Krakin
Shoot just buy a bass shaker and attach it to your bed. Somewhat kidding, although that does sound cool.
