Battery/Alt Upgrade Opinions

I preordered a pair of Obsidian 18 v2's a couple months ago, and they should be in within the next month, so I am looking to beef up my electrical adequately beforehand. I currently have the big 3 done in Knu 0g, an XS d3400 up front and stock 125A alt in my Grand Prix. I plan to power the Obsidians with a RF T1500bdcp @1ohm and set of Crescendo PWX 6.5's in parallel with a set of RF T2 comp's off a RF T400-2 @2ohms. Overall I will be looking at something in the neighborhood of 1900-2kw. I would like to throw an XS XP3000 in the trunk with an isolator, and naturally put off buying an expensive alt, but I wasn't sure if that would be sufficient. Any insights?

Whats the difference in price between an alternator and a battery/isolator? I vote alternator.

Mechman quoted me $300 for a 170A, $400 for 240A, and $500 for 320A (S Series). The XP3000 would be $280 and the isolator about another $50.

No need for an isolater unless you play with the car off. Just get your xp3000 and have it paralleled with the 3400 and that would be the best. Then save for your alt.

Do you think the two batteries paired with the stock alt would suffice as a daily driver (I'm not burping) for a while until I got the alt?

Yea with your two batts it would be fine. My AQ20k at 1.4 ohms and 6 batts ( 5 g31s, 1 g34) would hold 12.8 for quite some time when my rewound 250 went out and I went to a stock 160 for a couple weeks to wait for my 270 amp. I would be comfortable running those 2 on that power for a long time just watching voltage closely.
