93BlazeBronco Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 Im trying to get a good amp for two 12" MTX terminator series subs. I heard the amp in the package is trash so I am wanting to get one on the side. Heres a link to the subs. (My first subs) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JECAM2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Now I am thinking about this amp here: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22109_Boss-PH3000D.html What are your thoughts? Is that amp good enough or too much? Or is it trash..
Jessica Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 I wouldnt give them more than 400 watts for the pair. the whole thing box and subs weighs 60lbs. Crutchfield shows them 200-400rms, i would say 200 rms each subs would be pushing it. There is no amp in that package you listed. Whats an amp you would recommend?
BoomZoom808 Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 That amp is trash. You probably only need about 500 clean watts to the pair and it should sound good. I had a 10 in terminator and I gave it about 500 watts clean and it handled it ok but I was not pushing it either. 2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Knu OFC 1/0 SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750 Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5 IA 10.1 / SSA XCON 12
Jessica Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 For that price, and those subs, i would just get the package with the amp. I mean, thats hella cheap and those subs are not going to take much power. Mtx makes decent amps. As far as getting a different amp, a small fosgate amp would be about 150. this one would push those subs easy peasy http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67758_Rockford-Fosgate-R500X1D.html Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Was hoping to only spend about $100-$110 on an amp.
Jessica Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 Stop being a cheap ass. just get the package deal if you want to buy the cheapest thing you can. I guess you could go to walmart and buy one of those boss 1500 watt amps that do 150 watts for that price. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Its my opinion but the 150 range is where you start getting into what is worthwhile for a budget build. -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos! truthsayer Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 here is a link to a Pioneer class D amp that would work great for that sub. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-GM-D7500M-Class-D-Amplifier-Watts/dp/B0036W9QEK/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1380908952&sr=8-7&keywords=pioneer+gmd You can usually find these on sale for around $120. or less sometimes. Ebay has one for $113 free shipping. Here is the gm-d 8601 that would also be a good match for you. $119 free shipping, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-GM-D8601-800W-RMS-Class-D-Monoblock-GM-Digital-Series-Amplifier-USED-U7-/360734441663?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item53fd72c0bf. I think every one here would agree the Boss will just be a waste of money. Ebay also has the gm-d 7400 close out price of $75, all the above pioneer's would be 10 times better than the boss. The pioneer 8601 and 9601 are also 1ohm stable, giving you much more flexibility. truthsayer
