robby512 Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 I have 2 soundqubed hdc 3 15's in a 12 cubic foot box powered only by a hifonics Brutus 1200 running at 2 ohms so it maybe getting 400 watts to each. It sounds good and hits I just think it could be so much more with right power correct? My question is which way would be best should I go get another brrutus and run them at one ohm each ( subs are daul 2 ohm) or go out and get an audioque 2200 I have a guy about an hour away wanting 250 for one if he still has it or what any advice is appreciated prefer a used amp so I can stay cheaper but would like to spend no more than 400.
jarrius Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 What is your electrical like in your car? That is the first thing you need to look at. Second I would pick up the 2200 if he still has it no matter what there great amps just need to make sure you have the electrical to power it. Also I would not get a second Brutus 1200 for those subs. Wile there not bad amps they just require ALOT of power to make there power. Also if he does not have the amp still just buy a new one there 429 befor tax and with free shipping right now. I know its a little over your range but trust me and everybody ales who uses soundqubed you will love the 2200 more then 10 of those Brutus amps 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
robby512 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Report Posted October 12, 2013 My electrical is i have 2 shuriken bt 80 ran off big 3 and a stock alternator. I don't doubt that the audioque would be a fantastic way. But I'm also in the market for something different or open for ideas I was looking at an American bass Ph-4000 md old one not the new mini which I heard needs a lot of power to reach good high power. I'm just trying one to get more bang for my buck and 2 I want to make sure what I do is going to make a huge/good difference which doubling power should make one.
hazestorm23 Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 +1 for blood rises suggestions.... check if you ara making enough power to get the power you want. Big 3. H/o alternator a couple of batteries if your planning on running 2 amps but I would jump on that audioque no matter what.
hazestorm23 Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 And for 400 check our own for sale section you might get a good deal on a decent amp
robby512 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Report Posted October 12, 2013 And now how would I go about checking my power to make sure I can get what I want
hazestorm23 Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 First determine how many total watts you will be putting out . Next get a h/o alternator either way before you strain your stock one and it goes bad. I'm not so familiar with the batteries your running so I'm not so sure how much power they give you. Your stock alternator at most puts out 120 amps and your stock electrical in your car takes about half of that so your left with about 60 amps
hazestorm23 Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 So at most you can power a 500 watt amp . Its just an example go from there . So if you get a 220 h/o alternator that would start you off better
beatindowndablock247 Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 I would defiantly get your power higher before the worries of more amps or new amps. those subs on that amp without the voltage can do some damage to your stuff.
jarrius Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 First you should get your electrical up to be honest like every one ales said. That is the heart of your system so think of it this way weak heart weak sound and blown amps and subs possibly. If you can spend 400 on a amp I would talk to mech man and get a quote for a 250 amp alt for your car then sar up more for the amp 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
