Adding second battery?

Ok so i have a 06 cadillac cts and i want to add a second battery in the trunk because i can not add one up front( can't fit any of the XS batteries) in the stock location space is tight. Oem battery is a group 78 but the 101 fit tight.

So if i were to add a second battery in the trunk because they are different type and size i will need a isolator to solve the charging problem.

i'll check and get the battery measurements, but i used the vehicle application guide and nothing came up.

O and what is a isolator for then? I have used one years ago.The store Tweeter recommended and installed it. smh

You don't necessarily need an isolator. but if you insist... what are you trying to do?

i just thought that was the route i had to go if i could not fit a XS power under the hood because i was mixing batteries.

You realistically shouldn't mix battery sizes, especially types. But if you keep them properly charged, you should be fine. For example I have a group 34 XS up front and 2 d975s in the rear.

an isolator does what its called. It isolates the rear or front battery to its duties, but isn't always a good thing.

Whats better the 975 or the d1200

Is the battery protector needed because this will go under the hood?
