2011 F150 with lots of bent plexiglass! *SHIRT TRICK VIDEO!*

Recommended Posts

So, a buddy of mine had previously had a single Sundown Audio SA 12 on a Kicker zx1000.1, then it was upgraded to a single ZV3 12" sub on a Rockford Fosgate 1500 bdcp, and eventually the sub tinsels fried. He came to me with the idea of wanting more bass and that he didnt want to do a blowthrough. Both of the first single sub setups were in a box that replaced the center seat in the front. We decided with doing 3 SA 12s in a center console box that has part of the box under the rear seats to get proper airspace for the subs. I wanted to make an AWESOME looking box that sounds good also. There will be a 350 amp GINGER FILTERNATOR under the hood, and 3 big batteries in the bed in a custom battery rack. There is 3 sets of Focals in the truck. 2 sets in the front doors in custom fiberglass pods. There is an Alpine 300 watt for channel on them (for now) and an AQ3500 on the bass.

This is the truck itself:

This is the old sub setup:

We put speaker grilles on the speakers and they look MUCH better now! I just don't have a picture at the moment.

This is the beginning of my favorite box that I have ever built!

We wanted something that neither of us had ever seen before in an enclosure. We wanted something different! So, we set out to do something that was as functional as it could be, look, and sound fantastic! We both like plexiglass and the effect that it gives. As I was brainstorming this build, one day it came to me that we could do "BENT" plexiglass in the box. I wanted to do downfiring subs in a ported box. We had made a curve that would be functional, look good, and not cut down on the airspace too much.

This is the curve we came up with:

This is how it goes on the box.

Then I had to copy the curve exactly:

Then I rounded over the Insides of the sub rings:

Then I cut these pieces for backlight plexiglass - a project that I learned from Mark at CARAUDIOFABRICATION. Thanks buddy!

I also cut these accent pieces for the inside of the box so that it wouldnt be all black, and would go with our 2 tone silver and black.

On the side of these pics, you can see where I took pieces of masonite over the flush trim router bit for the outsides of the box, and wrapped them in vinyl so I had a nice clean seam.
