Bump4life
Hello! my car (Mercedes C220 1995) does not have keyless entry. i dont need a remote start or anything fancy alarm wise. I literally just want keyless entry. my car already has power locks and windows. just no keyless entry. I looked up on the mercedes forums how to install one and it looks very simple. i did some research and was looking into the viper entry line keyless entry. but since i dont have much experience with this stuff i wanted your opinion. what is a reliable cheapest (still good quality) keyless entry that pretty much only does keyless entry. essentially just a keyless switch? SpatFieya
Should of read more carefully, my apologies. Again though, can't go wrong with a viper or other DEI product. Keyless is cake in most vehicles. R.F.M. READ THE F****** FREE MANUAL!

SpatFieya
Yes, here you go, installed many of these. They work very well/simple to install. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_30167_Viper-211HV-P-N-412V.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_campaign=paid_search_google_pla&scid=scplp3605144&gclid=CMHr463kqboCFel_QgodXxQAag EDIT: Also spotted these notes on your car to look out for NOTE *1 the IGNITION HARNESS is accessible at the BOTTOM of the FUSE BOX, pull the fuse box up into the cowling area to get at the wire harness. NOTE: use the PURPLE/GREEN (+) wire to bypass the Factory Starter Kill for Remote Starter Installation.NOTE *2 this vehicle has 2 Parking Light wires, it will require 2 extra Relays part #775, to connect, See DIAGRAM. ^ Not hard, just a goofy European thing. (They like to be different/difficult, lol). You could also choose not to attach parking lights if need be. NOTE *3 on base vehicles WITHOUT a FACTORY ALARM, the Lock and Unlock wires when using IGNITION CONTROLLED DOOR LOCKS will cause the Factory Starter Kill to engage. DO NOT USE the IGNITION CONTROLLED DOOR LOCKING programs on this vehicle. ^ Majority of vipers come with ign controlled door lock feature set to on. Make sure to program it off (simple to do, will be in manual)NOTE *4 the BROWN/GRAY (-) at the PASSENGER DOOR PIN SWITCH is for the FRONT DOORS and the BROWN/GRAY/YELLOW (-) at the REAR DOORS. These wires are also at the THEFT MODULE in the trunk. When connecting to an ALARM SYSTEM, use both DOOR TRIGGER wires and DIODE ISOLATE, to connect, See DIAGRAM. R.F.M. READ THE F****** FREE MANUAL! I found that I can connect into the locking module in the trunk. Th instructions where to hook up the alarm with a positive and negative for power. then i hook up 2 or 3 wires to this locking mechanism and then it is good to go. ill be double checking before i start. but i dont need to mess with the ignition system at all it is all in the power locks. but if i do end up needing to do it the old fashioned way, those are some good tips so thanks!! i dont want to kill the car while im driving. Crandis16
From what I have gathered. There are remote entries that use a certain frequency, those are easy to unlock without you knowing. And there are keyless entries that use an encrypted code. Those are the harder ones to unlock. The viper uses that encrypted code Edit: Directed is the company with the encrypted codes. They have different products, including viper http://www.directed.com/ My Red zx2 Build Log My Black zx2 Build Log My Red zx2 UBL
Robert8252
Have owned 2 Viper 5901s and loved it. I hear great stuff about compustar as well but haven't used them. Find one that does what you want and fits your budget and go for it. 2 way remote is a must though IMO. 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
SpatFieya
I went to a directed meeting a while ago, and met some of the guys from the company, they showed a power point with some info about the encryption... it was seriously 3 pages long of just code. That is sent out every time you press a button on your fob. The remote start/security systems use a more complicated super code (sst transmitters). It sometimes creates a delay in 2 way transmitting due to changing code and also length of code. It's very sophisticated stuff for the price. R.F.M. READ THE F****** FREE MANUAL!
