I'm just wondering what would be better for the sub long term and what differences would I see? I'm sceptical on running 6k into a sub on a daily basis. - 3000W RMS @ 4-Ohm (Running Higher Gains) - 6000W RMS @ 1-Ohm (Running Lower Gains)

The installer has assured me that a good dry cell battery, 15 farad cap and big 3 upgrade will be enough to power it. I was looking to upgrade the alternator but he advised against it. Thoughts?

To properly supply that amp with current, you must make it or store it( which has to be previously produced). That's one HELL of an amp man, a HO alternator would be a great idea. One battery isn't going to cut it either, not for long anyway. Edit-I was being WAY generous with the amperage draw. it's 600+ on paper. HO=need Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Guest Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 you NEED a high output alt with that kind of amp. otherwise you'll drop voltage like crazy and risk smoking the amp. a stock 100 amp alt with an amp that can draw 600 amps. 50 amps to run the car, the battery/ies will need to provide 550 amps of current to the amp (at full tilt) more than one battery too. i'd probably do two group 31 agm style batteries. that cap will do jack shit with a stock alternator. edit: sorry, but a man that advises AGAINST a high output alternator for an amp like that is not a wise man.

2LOUD Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Yeah I agree, I'm trying to find a high output alternator at the moment without any luck though. It’s for a Mitsubishi Evolution 7, if anyone could point me in the right direction that would really help.
nocturnalrites101 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 its prolly a pain in the ass to change on that car thats why he doesnt recommend it. that amp is also reallly overkill for that sub. also depending on the year of the car DC power has up to a 320 amp alt for that car
