mmets Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 So recently picked up a 07 Trailblazer and have noticed a few times while driving my gauge will drop to around 12ish. On start up its around 14 something. This doesnt happen on shorter drives or even all the time but i drive about 45 minutes to work and have noticed it a few times. I am getting ready to drop a singer 350A alternator in with a 3400 and 3100 so i dont think i will have a problem but just wondering about this. I have searched this topic on goolge but seem to find some different answers or reasons why. I honestly dont belong to any other sites but SMD here so figured i would ask the experts on here. Also the vehicle is bone stock right now minus a Pioneer AVH-P8400BH with the install kit. I have not put a meter on anything because when i am at home it stays up. These readings are of course on the stock volt meter. i may hook up my other meter but its a stinger meter and not sure how good that meter is. At some point it will be replaced. Thanks for the input. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)
slamingsuburban Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 your alternator is computer controlled and will vary the voltage acording to the demand of your truck. its supposed to save on gas
mmets Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 I was assuming that from what i have read but wanted to be sure. When i change out my alt will with still happen or is there something else i will need to do besides just changing out the ALT? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)
