Rick Griffin Posted October 25, 2013 Report Share Posted October 25, 2013 I have an 06 bmw 530i with a 170 amp stock alt, there is a possiblilty of an upgrade to 280 amps but that is as high as I can go with my car, I am planning on replacing my stock batt with a kinetic hc 2400 and 2 extra 3100s in the back. Would it even be worth it to buy the 5k (to run 1 12" level 5, maybe add another later) or will I even get close to the rated 5k watts I am looking for. I could just go with the 3.5k if that's about what kind of power I will be getting out of the 5k anyway. Any advice/opinions on this matter? If you are running the amp at 1 ohm, upgrading to the 280a alt with an upgraded front battery and 2 D3100 in the back will be sufficient to power the 5k.
