Tweets To Deck?

Recommended Posts

Okay so im terrible with trying new things... last time i tried to hook something up by myself that ive never done before i fried my ENTIRE wiring system.

so im bout to put in some tweeters ... but i dont have a high pass amp (i tihnk thats what its called) so ive been told to "tap into the deck" so what im thinking is just attaching the tweeters to the right and left speaker wires behind the deck.. since i turn the bass down in the door speakers anyway... would this work? is there a better way? today is a really warm day in ohio (63 is the high) so im trying to get all the winter projects done today before it gets back down to 20 degrees thursday :(

any help would be much appreciated!

NO dont do that.

i think your friend wants you to go active, so your deck will need to have xover settings so you can set them before signal hits amp.

Do they have their own x-overs?

it says built in crossovers. i dunno they're cheapo tweeters.

so my deck is the kenwood kdc 135.... i dont think it has the xover setttings

I would not do that since the "crossover" on those is most likely just a small cap

you can cook bacon shirtless if you're not a pussy...lol

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

guys guys guys, you need to have a cross over for your tweeters, you cant just throw them into the doors along with a coax setof speakers. sellyou coaxs and buy a decent set of component speakers. they will come with the proper cross over, and you hook your speaker wire into your cross over then from the cross over to the mid and the tweet.the cross over tells the lower freq. to go to the woofer, and the higher ones to go to the tweeter. what your talking about is alot of work and it sound slike you dont have the experiance(no offense)...

Hope that helps a little.,...

The tweeters do have built in "crossovers" not a passive network but just a inductor and capacitor to block out the lower frequencies.
