Raptorman
Backed into a pole like 8 months ago. Just now getting around to caring about the damage, lol... I need to body fill it, but would like some clarification on the process, and also looking for some tips. Here's a pic. Thanks! Have free days the next couple days so would like to get it done during this time. 1996 GMC Sonoma Four Fi BTL Neo 18's In 2:1 6th Order Bandpass 2 Ampere 5k's @ .5 TEAM FI TEAM #LITHIUMCANTDEMO On 10/20/2013 at 0:37 AM, KillaCam said: Fucking with a Prius driver is like making fun of a disabled kid. ChevyBoy95
are you trying to make it round again? because in my little experience, i have tapped out the dents, which depends on the size, then you take care of the imperfections. jhmeg2
from the inside of the trunk you might be able to get at it. use a body hammer inside, and a dolly on the outside. get the metal as straight as you can first. then sand it down. If you can, the least amount of mud the better. then I'm guessing you dont have all the tools. so get a 2x4, a bit longer than the dent is, put a thin towel around it and the sand paper over that, this will help you get it straighter, This is inplace of a long john body sander. its going to take time with out the correct air tools, but it can be done.thin coats of filler, sanded smoother between, is better than just globbing it on and then trying to sand it all down. ////Alpine, Eclipse, Load Boss, Pheonix Gold, MB Quart,Digital Desings, Memphis, Stinger, Periphial, MTX, Visualogic
Raptorman
I've already tried hammering it out. That's what the paint chips are from, from the impacts. Plus I can't really get a good angle on it because there is a metal plate kind of in front of it that only gives me a few inches of swing room. Bottom line is that I am going to be body filling it. Try and make it rounded out/flush with the car. Should I sand it to bare metal before I slap that shit on? And what grit sandpaper should I use? Should I wetsand? Need to know stuff like that. ChevyBoy95
other thing would be to use a dent puller, which works from the outside. honestly, i think if you throw a bunch of filler on it, it will just end up looking terrible. but good luck, hope it turns out well. Raptorman
I was thinking of taping off the portion that I would be filling. And then taking something like some fishing string and running it over it from front to back. With the string pressed lightly against the bottom edge, where the edge meets the bumper, and pressed against slightly above where the dent starts. And just shave off the body filler while it's curing to get a decent shape going. Then let it cure and sand/shape it more accurate. It works out in my head, don't know how practical or effective it REALLY would be though. I'm not looking for some factory-finish. I know I can't make it perfect with my skill-set. But I'm looking to make it look at least a little better than its current state.Edit: I'm heading out for class though. I'll respond when I can if anyone replies. Junior Russell
thats one of those things that sound great on paper but whenever you apply it it could (not will but could) be a completely different thing all together sounds like that would work though http://www.youtube.c...e1?feature=mheehttp://www.stevemead...87#entry1993187 JVC KD-R530 head unit VVME INNO-D1500 sub amp Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifierPioneer 2-way 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohms DTI Audio 6.5 X2 @ 4 ohmsbox: 4.24 ft^3 tuned to 61 hertz (port walls fell off and dissapeared )
Raptorman
Well I took the plunge. As good as I'm going to get it with my skill-set and available tools.
