blake1886
So i have recently got a Memphis 16-MCD1000 amp from a friend. it was just laying around his house and he didnt have a use for it and wasnt even sure if it worked because it was his brother. I tried to plug it into power to see if it works, but it goes directly into protection mode. I'm not a major expert with amplifiers but i do have some electronic background and i am a quick learner with electronics. I couldn't see any physical problems when i looked at the board, no caps were broken and no connections were fried. Can anyone help me with this amp? I'd really like to get this going. Facekicker
Take a close look at the joints where the power connectors, speaker connectors, and RCA's are fused to the board. Usually these are soldered at a 90deg to the board and pressure on them can cause them to crack as they flex. This would be the first place I check for cracks in the solder, a connector that has lifted/delaminated off the board, or even sometimes they corrode. Closeups of the internal portion of the connectors will help, you can sometimes find a loose one just by touching it. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power

blake1886
Before when i waa testing the amp i hqd it plugged into an old power supply from a computer, i realized the power supple would stop once i switched it on so i decided to hook it up to an actual car battery. After plugging it into a crappy speaker laying around I figured out that when the speaker amp is plugged in the protection light flashes and the speaker makes a clicking noise repededly. Idk if this help at all but I thought it could be of importance. And it also did not blow the fuses in the amp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -2004 Ford explorer -Pioneer Deh-80prs HU -4 Rockford Fosgate R1683 -2 Rockford Fosgate P1S4-12 wired to 2ohms -1 Rockford Fosgate Prime R500-1 -I know it's very basic...
