Weird distortion noise

Hey guys.. so I got my system installed at a shop here in town and I'm really happy with it. Since I didn't tune the amps myself, I'm not sure how high they're turned up in. Is the gain on the amp what I'd be looking for to turn it up or down in terms of watts? I'm not even sure if the sub is getting rms or not, but it's not flexing near as much as other dc 15's that i've seen. Idk if that's even a proper way to measure it, but that's just what I've found. Anyway, on to my real question.. Sometimes when I have it turned up to about 28-30 volume, if I open the trunk and put my head nearer to the sub, it makes this sorta distorting noise. I have no idea how to explain it tbh, and it seems like it doesnt even capture on video either.. it's not the bottoming out noise or whatever that I've seen on vids where they give subs too much power.. I've heard it many other times on other systems but I'm not sure if it was super bad or not.

I think everything is turned down, my HU is kinda weird compared to others.. I can't find everything that most HU's have :P It's a pretty nice one though, so I'm not sure why.. It wouldn't have been that an amp went into protection mode or anything would it? I've heard of that but I'm not sure why it would do it. One of the amps remained on while all the lights on the other one were shut off :P

Things that would be very helpful if your serious about fixing problems.

1) video of all issues you can find along with a overview of your system with a decent video quality.

2) some nice HD pics of your amp settings

3) a general idea of how wires were run in your car

4) any description of your FULL system including batteries wires and anything extra (or still needed) along with all the normal things people say like headunit model (which you already said) but its nice when everything is close together in a single post for us to research and brain storm.

What source are you using? (Cd, iPod/ipad,radio etc?) it possibly could be the source or music that makes the sound coming from the sub? Is it only in the sub u hear the sound? Is it hissing/booming or some type of screaking sound? Does it occur at higher volumes or at all volume levels? Also does it happen on all songs?

so at full tilt, your sub will react differently from trunk open and trunk closed. When the trunk is closed, it gives the sub something to load off of. So when you're at full tilt trunk closed, and you open the trunk, the sub will move more, possibly creating that sound. If it doesn't sound like crap when the sub is playing trunk closed, I wouldn't worry about it, seeing as how hopefully you got it done at a reputable shop, they'll warranty their work if anything goes wrong. I wouldn't touch anything, cause once you touch something, they can say you messed it up, and don't have to touch it. my .02
