Box for Fi Q

I would definitely choose the Orion amp over the Hifonics.

And is there maybe a better amp for about the same range that will be better or is there orion concidered good?

If you are going for sealed and you have 16.5" height I would go for a Q 15 in a 2.3 cubic feet net box. That would likely sound both clean and decently loud.

Alrighty then, I am going to be ordering it in a few weeks and be building the box.
Which features should I buy on the fi Q since its sealed? I remember I heard something about high QTS

If you are never going ported high QTS would be good for the low end, if you think you may go ported later on avoid high QTS, also those are harder to sell since not many people want sealed setups. Sealed boxes get warmer inside than ported ones (unless you reverse mount), if you plan to overpower for extended periods of time in a non reverse mounted sub box setup cooling may help a bit.

for a sealed box using the specs you gave us here is what I came up with

At 16.5 height 16.5 width (so it can easy fit in your trunk) and 15.7 Depth it will come out to 1.85ft3 gross

After a sub displacement of .16 that gives you 1.69ft3.

If you want to use it here is the cut sheet to use.

Top/bottom = 16.5"x15.7"

Left and Right side = 15"x14.2"

Front and Back = 16.5"x15"

from there I would say just center your sub on the baffle and cut out a Cut ID of : 11.125” (direct from Fi's sight) If any one sees any problem with this design please let me know or correct me. I used Torres Tuning Calc for it.

140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed)

140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL

142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at)

141 on music.

high qts makes the coil gap a little bit larger so there is less motor force, but more linearity at high excursion. I would just go reg qts if you think you might want to port it in the future.

always get internal leads,(its worth the money) cooling will give you a plugged pole piece and vent pole; this will increase the life of your coil and is worth getting as well.

I think the box I built for my Q was 2.5 cu. ft. Sub and box is still in my girls car and sounds sexy AF, even though its a pre-09 motor.
