oldsoundguy Posted January 1, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 1, 2014 I got my wire harness for the HU soldered this morning. Made it easy with the little clamp stand I got at harbor freight. Also bought the aluminum case for the DD-1 CC-1 and a few tools. I like it. Also finally got some interior removal tools. Maybe I can save more plastic clips now. RCA's should be here Friday so that means the HU can go in. Then I need to wire up the amp and door speakers. oldsoundguy Posted January 2, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 2, 2014 Ok got to work on the truck today. I didn't have work so it was out to the garage. I had to clean it up first cause I didn't clean it last time I was working on stuff. Anyway I took out the two front seats and got the power wire, ground, remote and speaker wire ran today. I also found on the pass side floor a rubber grommet in the floor so I poked a nice little hole in it and ran my ground through the floor and attached it to the frame. I took a wire wheel to it first. Then I did the same to the drivers side for the 1400.1 I had the ground just screwed to the body but put it on the frame also. I think that's a better place for ground. I was expecting to get my RCA's tomorrow but they came today after I was done working on the truck. If I don't work tomorrow I will be able to get the amp, Head unit and speaker installed and running. I also put my subwoofer back in the box magnet first to see if there is any difference. I have to say I am getting more port noise with it this way. It sounds like a fan blowing a little when a few songs play. I think I will flip it back inverted, plus it just looks cooler that way. I may also try moving the box around. I have it strapped down with ratchet straps hooked to the rear seat belt lower attachment points. Its very secure and I can move it around and see were it sound best to me in my drivers seat. Turn off the bass and the front 're xxx bump. It's crazy how good they sound. Also now I can crank it up to max hi volume with no clip light now. Sounds super clean. I will play with the crossovers a bit to see what sounds best. Walk away while videoing for a distance test,ect. I mean my rides nothing geat but i still did a video and will do an update video after the $3000 of upgrades i am putting in this month. oldsoundguy Posted January 4, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 Did some playing today. Tried the -10dba track to set gains but it didn't like that. It's set with -5dba track. I did boost the highs with the eq a bit but left the bass alone. If I play metal I can use the loud adjustment to help the bass on those songs. Over all real happy. Wonder how long it will be until it's no loud enough. Lol Also I think I will take the alpine type s 6.5s I have and put them in the rear for some fill.I have two channels I am not using. They put out [email protected] so they should run them just fine. Just need to run speaker wire. oldsoundguy Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2014 Ok wired up the alpine type s to channel 3&4 on the CT 125.4. They sound pretty darn good. Not as good as the RE xxx but real good rear fill. I have the 'RE xxx on full pass and the alpine on hpf. Just did it by ear. Looks like I am done with this build for now. Just have to get the door panels done this summer. oldsoundguy Posted January 7, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2014 Ok not done yet LOL.. Ordered some 1/0 copper lugs from skyhigh and a two anl fuse holders and fuses. I also ordered from the toolman four 1/0 to 4 gauge adapters for my power and ground for my amps. I am going to run 1/0 power wire to each amp and use it for grounds also. I want to see if it does anything to my voltage. Its only money right? LOL The better I can stabilize my voltage the better. I have also contacted DC alts and asked about raising my charging voltage output of the alt. He told me that Toyota has the lowest output alt. I guess they set my voltage reg to factory specs. Mine puts out 13.9 cold and 13.7 warm. That's quite a bit less than the average of 14.4 He said they have a higher voltage reg that they can sell me that's 15v but they are waiting on plugs being made. Maybe that will help charge my batteries at 14.4-6 and get more power to my amps.
