4th order bandpass setup

So I've finished removing my old 4th order, and I'm about to set up a new one. I normally mount the woofers side firing, perpendicular to the port. This has always worked for me. I'm about to install my new enclosure, and I was thinking about mounting the woofers up firing, still perpendicular to the port. If mounted this way, the woofers would rest on the same plane as the bottom panel of the port. What I mean is the woofers would share the same panel as the bottom of the port. I do not see a reason that this wouldn't work, because it's the same mounting strategy only rotated 90 degrees. It's just that I've never seen it done this way before, and I don't want to have to keep moving panels. In fact I've looked for photos and cannot find any where the woofers are mounted in this fashion, so I'm assuming it doesn't work and I'm missing something. Does anyone have any idea if this would work in practice? If not, what am I missing?

Nah man, it's cuz of the bass.
