BamaBoy334 Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 I wanted to know if anyone has stepped up to an official walled backseat build in a charger. Im asking because I have 6 weeks left in Afghanistan and I wanted some measurements so I can have ideas already in my head when I touchdown. I tried to get my wife to send some measurements but IDK what it is with (some) women and a tape measure.. Anyways.. i did google first but only found one build but it was mostly pics and I cant get in touch with the guy and the other guy stood me up on measurements of his box so any help will be very much appreciated. The pics are from 2 dif Chargers. One charger had 3 different set-ups in it. Mine will be 2 18s. I was thinking about building 2 boxes and screwing them together and adding a faceplate to make it look as one inside just so i can build outside of the vehicle.. (1st post here)

BamaBoy334 Posted December 24, 2013 Author Report Posted December 24, 2013 2 18s should be a piece of cake. Do one box. What would be a disadvantage of building 2 separate boxes for each sub? besides less volume? each box will have about 8.6^ft net and 117.50sq" of port @35hz. thats from rough measurements from my wife.. if i build 2 boxes i could get max height and build outside the car. taking off the doors to put it in
FLA813DOVER Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 to me 8.6 sounds like a good size for a 18.but at the same time it depends on what subs and power ur putting to them.i did a box for a fully loaded Fi ssd 18 on a ZRX1500.1 (weak amp lol) that was around 7.2 cubes b4 sub displacement and it sounded great never got to meter it tho 88 ranger xlt ext cab HU. jvc bluetooth/usb deck mids/highs. 2 earthquake 5s. 2 earthquake 6s and 2 Cadence CVLT-60 tweets subs. 2 Addictive audio V4 12s SAZ3000D SAX100.2 alt. 135 amp ford mustang batt. deka G31 1131MF box. 4 cubes 30-34hz rims. black 13x7 100 spokes with chrome knock offs. tires. 155/80r13.milestar touring se real billet grille not a bolt on. BamaBoy334 Posted December 25, 2013 Author Report Posted December 25, 2013 i think 8+^ft for any sub is more than enough. i might be able to get more when i get home and measure for myself since no one here has answered my question yet. ill have 2 HDC3.18 D1's on an q1-3500 @1ohm. nothing major but i think they will sound really good if i separate the boxes. like i said. ill be able to build outside of the car and get a tight fit when im done. then just face plate it, make the subs look flush and bang!! i got a wall lol
CleanSierra Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 The thing about making two separate boxes is this: You're going to eat into precious box volume with two boxes. Onr box will have a wall that is 3/4" MDF, and so will the other box. That's 1.5" of just wasted space and it doesn't sound like much, but over a run of say 26" in height and 24" depth(I figured an enclosure with 46" width, 26" height and 24" depth of enclosure depth and I'm still probably on the low side), that's half a cubic foot in just extra walls. When real estate is at a premium in a vehicle cabin, there's no need to waste that space when you could easily just build in the vehicle with an outer shell and tape anything of that you don't want to get messy. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 Also, you should PM IBleedMusik here on the forum. He owns that car(newest bodystyle) AND he does a lot of installs/designs. He can help you out I'll bet. Tell him CleanCynthia(not a typo) sent you, he'll know. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
