Guest Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 i would do one good ten in the biggest box he can build. over the summer i seen a dc l ten in 2.5 cubic feet gross box, it was louder than some dual 12s I've heard. i always hear people saying exactly what the manufacture says as far as box size. but in my experience going bigger sometimes much bigger is better! when i bought my first type r it was in a vented 2 cubic ft box gross 1.5 net) which i think Is exactly what they recommend. a few weeks later i bought a new box. it was 2.5 net 3ft gross(for a single 12) and wow what a huge hug improvement! it was almost twice the sound!I'm being dramatic i know. but for real the lows were so much better deeper just awesome! actually later when i upgraded to 2 12s type rs and the dual box each sub had 1.9ft net and 2.25 gross there wasnt much of a difference. i was a lil louder but not like i thought it was gonna be. that's when i added the second Amp and shit got crazy. alpine box specs suck. thats why it did better in a bigger box. a 10 in a 2.5 cube box? there goes the woofers power handling capabilities. bigger boxes do not equal louder every time.
Aj11 Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 I'm not sure what power supply he had going to it, and i believe it was a dc lv 4 ten inch. i know bigger isn't always better but most of the time it Helps. it really takes effect on lower quality Subs kicker comps, cerwin vega, pioneer, things like that. I'm not saying double the manufactures specs but i would use all that air space he has for a single ten or 12. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Aj11 Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 it really all depends on the sub! take the jl w7 for example, I've seen them in 1cubic foot sealed boxes and 6.5 cubic foot vented boxes. the sealed was on 1000w rms the 6.5 was on 10,000rms that was at a comp by the way and it won( There was 2of them i posted this earlier) i cant remember if he wanted a ten or 12, i thought he said ten but if he has almost 3cubic feet i would def throw in a 12!! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Aj11 Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 I've had this discussion before, that's what the guy with the car said, his whole back seat was a huge wall. it did 170.6 on the meter. it was so violent i couldn't breath in his car. he had 4 mps in his trunk 2 where huge and i mean huge sub amps and the other 2 were for his components. had a bunch of batteries, about 6. this was back in 2005-2006. he could have been lying about the watts but not the meter # i seen that with my own eyes. I've already had this conversation, if you don't believe me that's fine but i know what i saw they were 13.5 not 12s, not that it makes a difference jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

I've already had this conversation, if you don't believe me that's fine but i know what i saw yeah and we all told you this before. dude was either lying about the power, the meter was not in a legal position, or it was an audiocontrol mic. likely all three of those things. 170 would damn near send you to the hospital. a true 160 burp hurts. a 155 on music starts making breathing hard.
