xs power batteries and new alt

Recommended Posts

I have an XS Power XP 950. Never installed it. Been waiting on new 0awg stinger to run. I am about to completely finish my build with all the electric upgrades. 50ft stinger 0awg running + & - to back. Getting XS Power XP3000 or 3200 can't remember. And new alt. Question is about XS's D series and XP series. Is D for under Hood and XP for secondary? That's wat I am understanding. I'm running about 3200 rms in the subs and another about 700 rms to mids and highs. I'd like to not waste the xp950. I'd like to use it for the 1400.4 amp. If I wanted to do this would i have to run seperate power and ground to this batt? I hope YES. I have plenty extra 4g DB link I could use to do that. The 1400.4 has only a 40a fuse.

Also, any tips on shopping for new alt? I know I at least need a 250a. Mechman is a little out of my budget. 300-350 is about what I'm looking to spend. Seen fairly decent ones but no real experience with Alts. Thanks guys. I am putting together a build log for this. I will have it up soon. I am also looking forward to this tare down and rebuild in the spring!!! Sick design coming with a possible 3rd sub.

3 amps. 2- w/80a fusing each and 1- w/ a 40a fuse. FYI

I would go with dc mechman singer, yes they are expensive, but they are proven to put out the power and last. No ebay alt! Yea tjere cheaper but you get what you pay for, and Id run a 3400 up front and maybe a 3100 in back ...

You are correct with the D vx XP. D series ones are made for under the hood while XP are pure reserve batteries.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

Thanks fellas. I will look into these Alts. I will have a little more room in my budget for a good alt. As far as the batteries go, I think I can just get 4 of these xp950's. I think I can have room for a cool display with 4 battery faces shown. And make some cool bus bars and a fusing display. I'm dampening the car, replacing carpet running all 1/0awg stinger. I will be working with a metal worker so some custom bracings and such is in the plans. Build log will start in a couple weeks when everything arrives. Going big with this one!
