Mr. Darkjustice Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 ok idk if this was a topic already or not. but i was wonderin how i can rattle and sound proof my car. i already know about dyno mat, but my trunk still seems to hyperflex so i was wonderin if there are other ways to seal it so that it wont rattle and sound wont seep out. and if so how would i do it Fusion With A Stetsom 4k2d on 2 DC XL 15s tuned to 31hz and Subs and ports forward The Revolution Was Not Televised But There Is This Thread(clicky) Dr Merkenstein is my 360 gamertag and my profession. trainman0978 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 you can put spray foam in the "ribs" of your trunk, let expand out, then trim away the excess, but ultimately the only way is several layers of some sort of sound deadenening product , either as foil backed sheets or a paint on type of deadener... 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Voo Doo Blue my upgrades and "build" thread. trainman0978 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 "alone the outer part since my trunk is mounted on the outside of the trunk and doesnt go inside of it" .... Ya lost me there. Bottom line is you need to add density to those panels, and density comes in the form of weight , which is layers of sound deadener. something else you can do is get some insulation or polyfill, and stuff down into the empty cavities of your trunk , and pack it down good, that will be a improvement if you have big trunk like a old caddy or box chevy , but you dont want that stuff exposed cause it will always be a big mess. If you can put it behind a trim panel than you will prolly like the idea a little more. Who wants to open a trunk and see pink fluffy insulation sticking out of the body skeleton? 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Voo Doo Blue my upgrades and "build" thread. Who wants to open a trunk and see pink fluffy insulation sticking out of the body skeleton? lol i figured someone would get confused. ok i drive a fusion, the trunk LID is mounted on the trunk. it doesn have that arm that goes inside of it. its basically like a car hood. ive already dynamatted my trunk lid, but it doesnt rattle it actually pushes out literally the exact way my subs move, and it slams back into the outer part of my trunk Fusion With A Stetsom 4k2d on 2 DC XL 15s tuned to 31hz and Subs and ports forward The Revolution Was Not Televised But There Is This Thread(clicky) Dr Merkenstein is my 360 gamertag and my profession. Sound deadener, more layers. maybe 3-5 layers. The heavier it is the harder it will be for the air pressure to move it 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Voo Doo Blue my upgrades and "build" thread.
