dual alternator problem

I have 2 320a mechman alts in an I6 trailblazer and I can't seem to get the going properly. I'm using mechmans AVBM and when I plug the harness into one alternator voltage and output is proper. When I plug the harness in the second alt everything is proper. When both are plugged in at the same time, the voltage drops to 14.0v and fluctuates between 14-14.5 and is never stable even with no heavy load on the alts. So basically they work individually but not together. Each alt has 2 runs going to battery bank and 2 runs going straight to the chassis frame rail.

why not call mechman and see if they can fix you out over the phone. I know when i setup my dual alts using a MLA module to connect them together (which should have been a simple install) turned out to be a very similiar headache like your having. Lucky at the time DC Power was a sponsor here (which im using their alts) and Robby and I spent nearly an hour on the phone in a 3way convo with Chris from MLA (think that was his name) and i had to rewire the actual MLA module and direct connect a jumper wire from the MLA module to a certain fuse (using a t-tap) to the underhood fuse box, and all my issues were solved. C/S with those 2 companies back then were amazing. I have an 02 tahoe, so your TB might not be to far off from having the same wiring (depending on year of TB) so if you want, ill go and chk my underhood fuse box and see which fuse im tapping into and snap some pics and if you want to try it, maybe it will fix your issue. Cause in all 100% honesty, what you typed out sounds like exactly what my issue was. Im using this setup nearly 2 1/2 years now and never a single problem since

I spoke to Brian at mechman and he couldn't figure it out off the top of his head. I sent him a few pics a few hours ago and haven't heard back from him yet. My trailblazer is a 2006 so it could be similar. If you could let me know what fuse box wire you tapped into and what it goes to that would be great, thanks!

06 will be way different, as the factory alt on those years was pcm controlled if im not mistaken. Give me a little and ill go out to garage and get ya a pic. Keep in mind tho, im using a MLA module and not the mechman thingy.....

Looks nice and clean. Im going to look up the fuse box diagram for an 02 Tahoe to see exactly what is going on. Thanks I appreciate the help!

What does that wire connect to when it leaves the fuse box?

my MLA module... I told you that a few posts up. For whatever reason without doing this "mod" the voltage regs on my alts were all over the place and nvr steady. After this mod, directly wired to the mla module, been perfect for 2 1/2 years and my voltage on hot days is 15.2/3 and cold days nearly 16v's
