ChrispyShimp
So It's now time for me to update what's going on. I have had 3 systems in the two vehicles I've had, and this one (number 4) by far takes the cake. It's not finished yet, far from it, but as it stands now, I'm grinning like a moron every time I turn it up. Smashing lows! Videos coming soon after a few fixes with the box. I'll post pics as soon as I find them, my hard drive is a mess. Gimme a few minutes... Knowledge is the greatest tool in any garage. It's also the most priceless, and most easily shared. ChrispyShimp
Here's a pic of the first setup in the truck, I might have more, I'll also post the Sketch-up screenshots of the box. This was my first box ever! took two weeks and a stupid amount of sanding, still don't have a table saw to this day. This system in the pic has two amps, a Clarion APX600.5 (for mids and highs) with the rear channels bridged to a single JL audio TR 6x9 in a lil' box I picked up at the pawnshop, had almost 200 RMS to just that one 6x9 speaker, loud as shit. The other (Bass)amp was at first a Planet Audio MCM1100.1 at 2 ohms, it was the weakest amp I've ever used, and the biggest rip off I've fallen victim to, paid almost triple internet price. Second bass amp was a JL audio JX500.1 AB, at 2 ohms. 4ga. CCA wiring, nothing really special, cheapy stuff. It's with this amp that I broke my rear view mirror off. 500 rms. The box was 4.3 cubes before displacement, port internal D was 12.5X3X20 inches. Subs were 2 JL Audio 12" W3v3s SVC4 ohm in perfect condition I'll post some more in just a bit... ChrispyShimp
Found the screen shot, both displacement chunks, assembled box, and exploded view. It really needs some internal bracing now. Gonna fix that sometime this week, stay tuned for more. Knowledge is the greatest tool in any garage. It's also the most priceless, and most easily shared. ChrispyShimp
Okay ya'll get ready, I'm going to upload a ton of pics, 15 megabytes worth! Going to post them in sections cause there's like 107 pix! Okay, so they aren't high quality huge pics, but it's good enough to show what I'm doing. Also, some will be omitted because they are almost duplicates. Clean Slate 100 amp breaker, mix of Kicker OFC 4ga and DB Link CCA 4Ga, all copper lugs, charging post adapters, Marine bat terminals. Extremely handy parts bin One of five toolboxes 57 inch long box goes right there. Seat is all the way forward too. These factory tiny by tiny are also 9.5 ohm. My radio is only stable to 8 ohms, so they don't play at all. Total bitch to get these off, some factory sealer clay sorta gunk held it together very well. Seat's out, removing trim to get the carpet out, annoying. Another parts bin Longbed FTW! More pics on the way... Knowledge is the greatest tool in any garage. ChrispyShimp
Just a little dirty, not bad for a 25 year old truck. Is that tape made of paper? Really? Lotta insulation over the Catalytic Converter. Yeah, that stuff. It's like super tough play-dough, wouldn't let go of the bolts, or the carpet either. Proof that it was pretty cool, didn't go above 27 all day, and that's saying something for Texas. I liked it, gotta work to keep warm. also, triple t-shirts and a windbreaker helped a lot too. Gawd that's an ugly piece of carpet, it's gotta go! Carpet and trim out. Is that rust? Yep, definitely rust. And water in the plastic too, perfect for a smelly mold farm. And the culprit. When I first got the truck, I didn't think to check the radiator. When I did, it looked like straight orange juice. I'm talking uber rusty, spent a week flushing it out with chemicals. Also, the hole I run the power wire through. The carpet was not stained very bad, but it was dirty. the bottom Beating it to death. That's a lot of dirt! Oh, I'm not done yet MOAR PIX! ChrispyShimp
Test fitting the box while it's empty and no seat. Much easier. Look at that fitment! After some testing, I've determined that this box needs some bracing pretty bad. Next up, wiring this bitch! Knowledge is the greatest tool in any garage.
