1.5 ohm Voicecoil only showing .7 ohm

I took a 13W7 1.5DVC sub in on a trade and guy said he couldn't get it to play. So I hooked my DMM up to it and each VC shows .7 - .8. There is no coil rub and from what I can see the coil looks ok and no smell. I haven't had a chane to hook it up but wanted to see what you all thought could be the problem.

P.S. I know JL this JL that I know but deal was to good to pass up.

jl is sometimes weird, make absolute Shure the coil are not connected in anyway and then take a 9v battery (like the kind in remotes for rc cars) and see if the sub reacts, should go in and out as you reverse the polarity

and if its reading that and the coils are so post to be 1.5 the coils have shorted on you and their is no fixing it easly

Was pretty much free I trade something that I was givin and I got this and a American bass hd15d2 that needs to be reconed

I was thinking maybe these rubber coated leads maybe there is a short in there idk

Yup sure did got a sub that can be fixed and a giant paper weight lol I took a shot if It works score if it doesn't I lost nothing

Yeah I figure at-least I could sell JL for parts if it comes down to it. Gonna hook it up tomorrow and see what happens. Just figured id ask about the ohm deal to see if it was a simple fix ( I must of been dreaming) or if it was a major fix
