FoneFtwo Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Hello Well i'm just getting in to car audio and am total beginner when it comes to box design and volumes and stuff so i need some help please. I am trying to work out all the dimentions required for my sub woofer box to house 2 subwoofers in a single chamber box. The subs i have are Rockford Fosgate P2D2-12 inch. The Specification sheet tells me that for a Ported Box 1 sub need 1.79 Cu.ft after displacement, It does not tell me a min/max cu.ft just 1.79 as optimum. OK so now i have worked out the measurments of my box that i want to build on the Torres tuning calculator but im unsure if i am correct or if i am way off, i would like some advice please on what to change or do before i start to build it. Also for my box volume i just doubled the cu.ft for a single sub, is this correct for a single chamber box?? Here are my Calculations and here is a quick sketch of the box. Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Joe X Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 You don't usually slot port a slanted box.
FoneFtwo Posted January 17, 2014 Author Report Posted January 17, 2014 You don't usually slot port a slanted box. ok thanks for the reply, To make it easier on myself this being my first box, i have decided to build a rectangle box and then just build the amp rack to follow to slope of the seats, I want to try to end up with around 35hz tune so does this calculation look correct, for a single chambered box ??? using a slot port.
Joe X Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Yes the last shot of Torres looks well for those subs, just a couple of things, the port length is measured along the center line end to end (a FYI just in case you are doing this for the first time) and secondly if this is going into a trunk car the box has to fit in it's way in if built outside so be aware of that.
