rotwiler12 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 So i had my head unit put in because it was custom and i was lazy. Its a nice kenwood double din. I also had the man run remote, power, ground and rcas to the trunk considering the fact that i was new to the hobby and had near to no idea what i was doing. i started off with a pair of boss subs hooked up to a boss amp. I wanted MORE power and just like more. After learning more on audio i figured out the guy i paid a ridiculous amount of money to do work for me and he put in shit RCAS and ran them on the same side as my power wire. After having the bosses for a while i noticed this rumbling after the headunit turned on... the subs rumbling and they pop when i hit my brakes. Strange. By the way this is all in a chrystler sebring convertible 2002. I thought it was the shitty RCAS and then i replaced them with some kicker but they were not long enough so i had to run them on the same side as my power. This didnt solve the problem. I was starting my next build which was 2 American Bass HD's in a custom built box. They were expensive. I hooked them up to a 4480.1D-BF. I hooked it all up and started breaking in the subs. Got pissed because the noise was louder and more aggravating then ever.. I was told it could be my ground which the dumbass man put in with my rcas and such. I regrounded it and nothing changed. I ran all new rcas on the opposite side of the power wire and nothing changed. I just bought a Stinger "High Performance" RCA noise filter and it served little to no purpose. I am out of options other than pay another retard at a shop to look at it and mess something up. I need help bad! IF anyone has any ideas. I would like to know.

SQ SUBARU Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 If you have noise in your system, easiest way is to isolate the problem and narrow it down to the cause. -First I would check all connections, grounds, inputs at amp and headunit. -Make sure the grounds are good contact and to the bare chassis. What vehicle is it? Some newer cars need different grounding points depending on the chassis design. -Unplug all the rcas at the amp, if the noise is now gone, then the noise will most likely be before the amp. -Test the rcas, rip them out, and run them over the seats away from other wires and other components. Most common problems for noise: -bad grounding points -source creating noise, common for pioneers: the pico fuse. -noise entering the system via the RCAs. -gain too high or voltage not matched correctly/ and settings not correct on hu or amp. -power wires etc being ran near factory wiring or rcas. -the common ground loop. Having multiple grounding points, as a return path. -bad wiring or connections. -faulty equipment. Less likely: -ignition noise -bad alt or spark plugs -factory charging/elec system faulty or bad connections etc. Noise filters don't eliminate the noise only quiet it down so it is less audible. So find the cause of the noise and fix that. Getting past the convertible top is hard as hell man xD haha i should prob have 0 gauge but i didnt think it would help
