I have a few accessories in a customers vehicle which are set up so that basically they need to be grounded when the vehicle is running like the door switches. If he turns the vehicle on like to demo the door buzzers and lights and stuff stay on if the doors are still open. Basically, I am wondering if I can set up a relay to ground these accessories when the head unit comes on instead of send power to them. Is this possible, and if it is, could someone please explain to me how to set up the relay?
ncc74656 Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 yes it is possible, in most automotive situations relays are used to ground and not to power anyway although it makes no difference which way you use them. you will use a basic 4 wire relay for this, using the positive amp power on wire from the deck would be perfect for this application. you would take pins 86 and 85 to this remote on wire, these are your coil contacts. place one to ground and one to the amp remote on wire to actuate the coil. from there put ground to 30 and what ever you need to negative trip to pin 87. nothing, gutted
