2011 Chevy Cruze Soundqubed / DD build

Recommended Posts

Alrighty, where to begin... Basically my parents bought my 15 year old sister her first car, a 2011 Cruze Eco... But she doesn't get her license till the end of Feb. So, in the meantime, I can drive her car, since its waaay better on gas than my truck (lifted F150). I could not stand the factory radio, not enough bass.. So, as her christmas present, i thought I'd hook her up, get her car just a little bass... :slayer:

Equipment:

DD SS1B that used to be in my truck

Soundqubed HDS 300 15" D2

Oh, and a LOT of time...

Let the pictures begin!

Now, i don't have any pictures of me trying to put the box in the car... I was having WAY too much trouble.. I had to completely remove the back seats, and use a mallet to squeeze the box in through the hole. It barely fit, had to bed some of the sheet metal to get it in the trunk. Needless to say, i am NEVER removing this box.. Not going through that hell again.. Oh, and did i mention that this was a SURPRISE present for my sister? Yeah, she had NO idea I was doing all of this. She thought i was out with my buddies when i was doing all this work. Who's the best brother ever? Haha

Back to pictures..

Now, this is how I initially mounted the amp, on the back of the box. I had some little sections of rubber hose to kind of help it against whatever vibrations.. All wires were ran behind the amp since it was lifted off the box about a half inch or so. Then they were ran under the box. 61A503CE-F625-4B46-9E67-6D4AA8024928_zps

Used some 3M double sided tape and put the bass knob in a little hole in front of the gear shifter37B78A5A-2171-4803-B72B-B48B492F6BFD_zps

My mom's main concern about me putting a system in the car, trunk space. I think i saved enough, I mean, I can fit a whole set of golf clubs in the trunk still, so thats plenty!

That's how it was from a couple days before christmas, until this last weekend. Thats when I decided to change it a little bit. And make it a little bit prettier.

They're not 100% perfect, but hey, I've never done anything like that before, I'm proud of myself!

Oh, and also, moved the amp to the floor. Then made a false floor to hide/protect it.

I also made a couple little pieces to go on each side of the box on the front, just to help seal the trunk off, but I don't have any pictures of those at the moment, they're small anyways...

That's where I'm at today. I'm pretty much done with it, except, that SS1B amp just isn't enough... Needs more power. But for now, its a fantastic system for a soon to be 16 year old blonde..

I'll try and post some videos I've got, if it'll let me

Awesome big brother. did similar for my "little" cousin. can't wait for the videos. i have a 2012 cruze myself and am still trying to figure out the best way to keep trunk space while getting 2 12s in the trunk with 2 amps and a processor. clean job though!

Nice work I'm curious how the HDS with the 3" coil stacks up against the SDC2.5 with a 2.5" coil
