MikeyL95
So I'm selling my guitar in about 20 hours and after that I'm spending a good chunk of change on my audio system. I'm replacing my factory battery with a XS D3400 and adding another D3400 in the trunk of my car. I saw the video Steve did on youtube of the 72 Chevelle where he ran 1/0 from alternator to the rear battery, but then I always read to hook from battery to battery. Can anyone please give me some insight on this? Thanks guys.
biscuitownz
They are basically the same connection. I believe most people do battery to battery because of convenience.
MikeyL95
They are basically the same connection. I believe most people do battery to battery because of convenience. Does it matter which I do? Is there any advantage/disadvantage to either?
biscuitownz
Do whichever is easier for you, there is no real difference. The main advantage is that when you have it battery to battery is that the run is typically neater since you do not have to route it to the alt, therefore shortening the run of the wire. If you had a dedicated alt just for your system then you could run it to the alt instead.
MikeyL95
So if I'm using a single alternator in the engine bay to power both then battery to battery would be the preferred connection?
Kyblack76
If your doing one run, you best go from alt to front bat. Then front bat, to rear bat. Ground the rear bat at the frame in the rear. Fuses on both ends of the run to the rear, as close to the bats as possible. Fuse the alt to front bat line (if you wish.) MikeyL95
So battery to battery with a 300a fuse each side and redo my big 3 with the OFC like I planned. Alright thanks y'all. Can't wait to get it all in.
