sbg
I have 2-12"hdc3 in a 5cuft box right now but I have to fold my seats down for it to fit in my kia. Plan to build a new 5cuft box that will fit in my kia and be able to have my back seats up. But for now a friend gave me a box to use. It's only just over 4cuft after sub/port and tuned to 41hz with 20" port area per foot and 84" of port area. Think I will be ok with this box for a month or 2? 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines. SQL50
Yeah, it'll do alright.. It should have enough sq port area to keep the port noise down. To the typical listener 40 hz is low, but I wouldn't consider it deep. Deep is 20's-low 30's.. Go too much lower than that and it won't hardly be audible, you'd just feel it.. If you want those subs to reach some deep bass, when you do your next box drop the tuning in the low 30's and watch the magic happen..

Port area= yes, low low tune= no. Mid 30s tuning will be just fine for them. I say give the temp box a try and see what you think. If anything, since its shy on airspace, the low end won't have as much impact and be as loud or powerful as it would be than in a box that was a full one cubic foot bigger. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

You are right cleansierra, I just put the box in my car. It still will play 30hz strong as shit. Them subs dig deep for sure, no need to tune below 34hz. Only thing I can tell is that it's a bit louder to the ear but you can't feel the bass as much. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines. sbg
But I will for sure go back to a 5cuft box with a 37hz tune. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines. Guest
But I will for sure go back to a 5cuft box with a 37hz tune. eventually this is going to be the winning box. dont need to tune low to play low with AQ/SQ/DD shit.
