if you had 6 12's on the same power as 2 15's would the 12's be louder? as there is more cone area and higher sensitivity I don't know its a question

"Theoretically" yes, But there is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of variables. So there is no way to predict it without testing.

I also agree that a couple NICER subs than the entry level ones, in a great box world be much more worth your while then 6 meh subs. I'm not talking trash on the entry level Sundowns and I'm sure they're nice, but compared to the X and Z line, they're not comparable. I think fewer, NICER subs would sound better in a wall than a bunch of low power handling subs with 2" voice coils.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

Just using 12 and 15" as an example

6off 12"x 12mm Xmas

678x12mm=8143

2off 15"x 30mm Xmas

353x30mm=10602

That's 20% more air displacement with 2x X15 then 6x E12

6x e12 is 3000rms rated v's 2500 rated on the x

6x12 is 9-12cuft net

And 2x15 6-10net

What kind of calculation is this exactly?

John is giving calculations for Vd which is volume displaced by the cone. Xmax times cone area is what determines Vd and gives an idea of maximum output at low frequencies :)

So, with (lets say) 23mm xmax on a 18, the Vd would be 414, how is this number related and is a higher number better?

Edit: sorry for the thread jack!
