hoit Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 I currently have a sealed set up for my two 12 inch subs. I like the solidity and overall flat response, I'm just thinking about upgrading power, big three, battery, etc. So, its only logical I upgrade my subs...any thoughts for the best sounding subs in a sealed enclosure? Preferably without spending my daughter's college tuition? 2007 Chevy Aveo Ls sedan 2 Sundown Xv2 on scv4k @ .5 ohm 2 pair RE XXX 6.5 components on sax200.4 @ 2 ohm Big Three, Three runs 1/0 power from front to back, 1 ground front to back Two runs ground from rear bank to chassis XS power d3100 upfront, 3 Odyssey 2150s in bank Singer 220 amp alt
Guest Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 depends on the size of the box and how much power (amplifier model numbers)
hoit Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 I have approximately 4 cubed feet of space to work with, and i'm looking at pushing them around 1000 watt rms at a 1 ohm load. actively searching for amp(s) I currently have a Hifonics Zeus ZXi60.4+1k five channel amp pushing two kicker CVR 12 dual 2 ohm subs in a 2 ohm load at around 750 rms.
Guest Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 you can do a sundown X 15. its 1250rms. requires Sealed – 2.0 to 3.0 cubic feet and a hell of a lot of bracing lol
hoit Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 you got my attention Kranny! have you heard a fair amount of sundown in sealed enclosures? I know lots of folks around here on this site are all about the ported...I just have a vast music preference (from Slayer to Skrillex to Yelawolf!) a simple rectangle enclosure made of 1 inch mdf with the sub rear facing would get the job done? 2007 Chevy Aveo Ls sedan 2 Sundown Xv2 on scv4k @ .5 ohm 2 pair RE XXX 6.5 components on sax200.4 @ 2 ohm Big Three, Three runs 1/0 power from front to back, 1 ground front to back Two runs ground from rear bank to chassis XS power d3100 upfront, 3 Odyssey 2150s in bank Singer 220 amp alt

ric006 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 every settup is different man depends on vehicle too
Guest Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 1k should be fine for that sub. you can just make the box on the bigger end of the enclosure size recommendation for that woofer, if you want. but i mean 2.5 cubes should be sufficient. 1" mdf is great. maybe add a little dowel rod bracing just in case. you want 0 box flex, to be able to put your hand on the box while the sub is going full tilt and not feel the slightest vibration.
