Stephen Raab
Im building a box for a lvl4 dc 15". The outer dimensions of the box are going to be 18" tall x 44" wide x 11" deep. I am using a 6" diameter pvc pipe as my port. Without factoring in any port flares, and sticking to the 15 in2 per ft3 how long would the port need to be. I tried to calculate it and dont think im doing it right. If someone could give me the answer, and if you are feeling really nice show me how you got to that answer so that I can do this for my self in the future that would be awesome. ric006
12 inches is 35.68 Hzhz 15 is 33.03 Hz These are just around point guesses
CleanSierra
You won't get 15" per foot since you have around 3.5 and the 6" port is only 28" of port. 28 divided by 3.5 is 8" per foot. The tuning Rick mentioned is close enough. I was guessing on port displacement, but it's gotta be close. You have to figure sub displacement too, so that brings tuning up and requires a longer vent. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Stephen Raab
Sub displacement is only .21 so with those dimensions and sub diaplacement i have about .20 ft3 to account for port putting me almost exactly at 3.25 ft3 i think ill make the box a little deeper and take some away from the width and run 15" of port
