agf144 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Report Posted February 22, 2014 I don't foresee an MDF frame working in any way. The force will destroy the frame. Skar has their new ZVX 8" sub coming out with custom tooled frame and it will be a 2.5" coil. I doubt they will have any baskets for sale for quite some time though. Other than than, you could maybe do like some guys have die in the past and use a 10" sub frame that accepts a 2.5"-3" coil, drill out your basket to accept your motor, use some kind of ring tooled out of aluminum to accept your 8" cone and surround on your newly tooled surround landing. Thanks for the information I will wait until I can get a ZVX basket instead. And that's what I was afraid of with a mdf basket. Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. oh.. wait.. naw.. that wasnt weird.. He probably tearin dat ass up every night. Reason for "insomnia" Ain't sleeping cause he's like a horny hamster on coke. 2000 grand prix gtp: SOLD My Home Theater Build (working progress) 2002 accord coupe subs: 2 soundqubed hds300 12s 4'1" towers tuned to 29hz sub: AQ hdc3 12 Amp: pioneer gm9061 amp: poineer gm9601 headunit: kenwood kdc 255u mids: SQ pro mids midbass: polk db 8s highs: stock mids/highs: shitty off brand
MACnonsence6 Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 yes you would have to tap out the motor or basket to work with each other and im pretty sure ur coil would not have an issue with that basket. dont be shot down so easy. u wana be really bad ass do something outside the relm of normal as such http://pierceaudioproducts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=215&sid=06520c7f990d6c47e2fa6d2523b802e8 all set on building a mdf basket but tapping out a 12 spoke to make it work is out of the realm? an mdf basket would be far more of a challenge then what i have mentioned here. if your set do it. im planning on building a neo destroyer on a 10" basket so thats gonna have its own issues but its something you have to think about figure out and get busy. dont be shot down I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.
agf144 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Report Posted February 22, 2014 I might be able to get a basket from the massive audio hippo 8s. I know they take a 2.5" coil Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. oh.. wait.. naw.. that wasnt weird.. He probably tearin dat ass up every night. CleanSierra Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 sad, face i wanted to see a wooden sub! fiberglass the crap out of It lol It would tear itself apart without a doubt. It may be cool to make one for looks, but not for a working model. I've seen metal baskets break from the stress of being as subwoofer and supporting a heavy motor. If considering carbon fiber over fiberglass, that might be something that would work. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Aj11 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 hell yea, full carbon basket that would be sick! i just had a flash of ideas run threw my head jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
agf144 Posted February 23, 2014 Author Report Posted February 23, 2014 ok so say i go the carbon fiber route what would i need i have never worked with it before. would i make a basket out of wood. (would the wood thickness/type matter? i the only left over stuff i have right now is 1.5" particle board) then apply carbon fiber then glass? and my soft parts would probable be these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-x-6-25-subwoofer-spider-damper-leads-ARC625-dual-/130985940794?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Grills_Accs&hash=item1e7f5ed73a 8" Subwoofer Cone Speaker Recone 6 Spoke CN8021 | eBay and re use the coil and terminals from the 12 and make a spider spacer Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. oh.. wait.. naw.. that wasnt weird..
