MACnonsence6
whats the best way to clean off surface rust on a motor that is still assembled. I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

SnowDrifter
Scotch brite pad should work. Be cautions of going through the coating though. Wipe them down with wd-40 when you are done ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
MACnonsence6
wd40 is a solvenet simililar to wiping down with alchol before painting correct? SavantStrike
wd40 is a solvenet simililar to wiping down with alchol before painting correct? I wouldn't use it before painting. It's a penetrating oil, so yes it has a solvent in it, but it also has oil in it. The whole idea in this case being that since it's an oil it will provide a layer of corrosion protection. If you have any household oil it should do the job.
