Knockoutpie Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 ive had this problem before and i did everything you done...new rca's changed my ground etc.... i fixed it by running my ground from the rear to the front battery and having a ground to the engine block and one good ground to the frame. I'm confused with this post, which ground did you ground to the battery? Head Unit? Amp? What's up? My 2 subwoofer amplifiers are fine, since they're low pass filters and pass thru is LP the sound doesn't get to them so it's no an issue with the subs just the 4ch amp and speakers, when I changed the Filter to LP instead of HP the hum and everything went away because the amp isn't allowing that signal to process and basically cuts it out (i think). So which ground do I have to reground? I'm assuming you mean the head unit. My head unit is in the front and my battery is in the trunk.

JEFFYBOI Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Check your RCA outputs on the back of your headunit. If you shorted out the ground on the RCA output it will make a engine noise or whine through your RCAs. I had this issue and i changed the headunit and fixed the problem. Try a different Headunit! 99% of the time engine or whine noise is a ground issue. Lmao here's my issue with the Head unit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-2014-OEM-CAMARO-MYLINK-NAVIGATION-XM-UNIT-/231177970614?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item35d347e3b6&vxp=mtr The bid on it alone is nearly 1000 dollars. I'm not going to replace it, I can try and replace the LOC unit and see if that fixes it.

IF that's what it is see if it can be repaired? Well NO, I don't know if it's the head unit, but it's coming from before the RCA plugs which can either be, the head unit, or the LOC unit, it really only occurs when the lights are on so it's not a huge deal. I mean if it's the head unit I'll live with it. But I could just try and replace the LOC and see if that fixes it. I doubt the dealer will do anything they'll say "oh you modified your stereo system? Sorry that's not covered under warranty. Lmao.. Just purchased a new LOC unit, i'll see if that fixes the issue, maybe i'll find a bad ground while I'm in there lol.
Knockoutpie Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 Bumping this, replaced the LOC unit, rechecked all the grounds, same issue. At this point I think I want to go with a filter i'm not sure what else I can do. and my power wire is a fat 0 Gauge wire running down the dead center of my car (this is the factory power wire because it's coming from the trunk)
