jakmagic Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some info about fi's upgrades for their subs? I would like to learn more about what they are and what applications benefit from them. First the Q 12 offers P chamfer, cooling, spider,I heat ring, and internal lead. Then the BL 12 offers hyper pole, cooling, flat wind coil, and universal. As for now I plan on using a ported box. 97 Buick LeSabre with stock 140 amp alternator XS Power D3400 (under the hood) using pdb distro blocks Big 3 done with 2/0 ga welding cable Alpine CDE-HD149BT head unit CT Sounds Meso 6.5" components CT Sounds 60.4 CT Sounds 1400.1 Fi Q 12 D2 with cooling in 2.5 net tuned @32 hz (box built by Sound Mekanix Customs) Bunch of Sky High 1/0 ga & 4 ga cable (plus fuse holders) Connection BT2 & BT4 550 (Audison) RCA's Bunch of Mojo Mat
OldsBoomer Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 What is your power and goals? The site give more info on what the options mean. On the Q the cooling option automatically includes p chamfer. The spider option is just an extra spider, the I Heat ring is to keep inductance down to help the speaker have a better response curve. Internal lead means the tinsels are in between the spiders. The BL cooling option includes hyper pole already. The flat wind has to do with the coil instead of round wire its flat giving more surface area to help with heat handling. The universal option is free and only means something if you get a dual 1 Suburban Coming Soon
jakmagic Posted March 22, 2014 Author Report Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks that pretty much answers my questions. Only thing is when your setting up your sub it lets you chose the cooling and p chamfer at the same time. Same with the hyper pole. It should not let you chose the chamfer or h-pole when you have cooling selected? 97 Buick LeSabre with stock 140 amp alternator XS Power D3400 (under the hood) using pdb distro blocks Big 3 done with 2/0 ga welding cable Alpine CDE-HD149BT head unit CT Sounds Meso 6.5" components CT Sounds 60.4 CT Sounds 1400.1 Fi Q 12 D2 with cooling in 2.5 net tuned @32 hz (box built by Sound Mekanix Customs) Bunch of Sky High 1/0 ga & 4 ga cable (plus fuse holders) Connection BT2 & BT4 550 (Audison) RCA's Bunch of Mojo Mat
OldsBoomer Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 Its an easy way to get a little more money. Should it let you do that..... no it shouldn't but they do and I'm sure people make that mistake. Suburban Coming Soon
