Motorboat KER
Sup guys. Since I am getting my new tools soon, I decided to make a thread of my build. This is my first build with wood work and such. Car specs: 72,XXX miles V6 Black (minor rust) Tan Leather Interior (Might make the box match it) Since I am still a student I am doing this as a budget build seeing as my parents don't spoil me. Current set up idea: 2 JBL GT5-15 (Just arrived) - Going to run them inverted so the box doesnt need to be bigger 4 Alpine Door Speakers (Just installed them) 4 AWG KnuKonceptz Wiring (Just installed) Custom 7.0 cubic box (dual external port!) No clue for the amp Not going to get a cap since IMO they are useless for a budget build Fiberglass new enclosure for a new HU and put that either in the center arm rest or where the cig lighter is (no need for it). Pics coming soon
Motorboat KER
Day One JBLs: The Wagon: Just put a coat of wax, rain-x and soap on it The trunk space: Cleanin the wheels: Testing out the Rustolium version of plastidip Still finishing up my box design making sure it is efficient. Later today I am picking up a router + table to help cut. In the mean time, I will be cutting the ports and braces.
Motorboat KER
Just went to Home Depot and got some tools to build the box. Got a zipsaw, some clamps, titebond, a sander and other related stuff. Currently letting the external port pieces cure. Will post pictures when phone is charged. Motorboat KER
Small update (been working a lot). Built a small work station out in the garage to prevent saw dust going everywhere inside my house. Just some 2x3 with pegboard. Remade my first port and it looks better (will remake again for perfection). Today I plan to take back my zip saw and get a router for my holes. I will start doing cuts on the main box and walls. Anyone have tips for a first time fiberglasser? Edit: ordered a wire harness for my radio so I can start on a new mount in my arm rest for a new HU. I reran my 4 gauge wire so there is not any pinching (still gotta make it look clean later). To do today: Finish box cuts and predrill! (2 sides and supports left). Motorboat KER
Thanks guys. I'm at work now, but I am thinking of getting soldering material and solder my speaker wire instead of using those connectors. Anyone know which is better?
