ronrico418 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Hi guys first time posting on SMD's site but long time SM fan. My friend already ordered the subs and if I could change it I would have told him to get 15s. Vehicle is a Jeep Cherokee Subs D1 AA Havoc's Amp RF 40001 Maximum external dimensions. 41" W, 20" D, 24" H. My friend would still like to be able to see out of his back window. I was thinking subs up port back with port in center bottom. I told him to order the 18s thinking if Steve could WANG!!! 4 BTLs below the backseat in the Hoe that 2 Havocs shouldn't be a problem but I have been told different. So about time i'm coming to SMD to ask for any suggestions on what would be the best enclosure design. My friend mainly listens to metal, Judas Priest, Metallica, Staind etc., etc. Really wanted to do the ported like I said previous tuned to 35hz. Now considering sealed but would rather have something more "special" for my buddy Doug! Any help is greatly appreciated so Thanks in advance. Would like to start cuts in the AM and that comes early on the East coast hehe. Will probably go off of any responses from now till then. SOMEBODY SAVE ME ~~~~~ Just waitin for the good news(fingers crossed) Wouldn't you know it I had seen the awesome 33 page thread of Enclosure designs and when I went to that Friday I was like 12 minutes after final post of "closing site till caught up" and i didn't want to be "that guy" that still asked for the Guru's box design when he just said he was swamped. Dammit had the paypal donation ready to go too. Anyhow Peace WestCoast bro's and safe night to everyone. Joe Rod screen name ronrico Quote
EricM9104 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 With those max dimensions, it'd be a 9.5ft^3 cubes which would leave 4.75ft^3 cubes per 18..... (too small for ported?) If he must go ported, I'd reccomend using aeroports instead of doing a slot port as the aeroports won't use up as much of the box as a slot port would. Thanks Joe Quote
bigjoe302boss Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 well if thats internal measurements, you can port it and have 6 cubes apiece like they recommend minimum, but you would have to use all-thread to brace with as to not take up much airspace and with sub dispacement it would be around 6 cubes apiece is what I mean. Okay I may do aero ports to take up less space any ideas on port size anyone Now changed maximum internal D to 25" Quote
ronrico418 Posted March 16, 2008 Author Report Posted March 16, 2008 Figured out to now have 13CF internally after bracing and displacement. How do I figure PORT and I know I'll have to subtract that from rear chamber in this application. Thanks Ronrico Quote

ronrico418 Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 I ended up with 11.5 CF after dispacement of woofers. Of course the port will take a lil more precious airspace away! but this is what I've fought for. Can anyone help me design 140 Sq inch port or tell me how to do it myself - tuning 37-40 hz for purely rock/metal Thanks in advance Ronrico Quote
