hello, i was wondering if the "subwoofer level control" on these headunits (0 to 15DB) is a kind of bass boost? (and you shouldnt use bass boost i've learnt from this forum?)

i have my amp at 40volts at 2OHM(800rms) and i have the bass on -7, treble on +7 and subwoofer on +10.

is that not a good idea or is it not a problem with the alpine HU's? ( i have a type-r btw:) )

my amp is capable of 1114rms, so should i set the gains to that and turn the subwoofer down nearer to 0?

i have noticed a slight smell every now and then, could that be a problem or ?

thanks for any help.

Ben

edit, here is a link to the manual thing on alpine.

and here is 'my' HU

*Alpine Typr-R 12"

*JBL GTO 1200.1 Sub Amp

*Alpine PDX-4.100

*Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5's

*Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5's Both in front doors

*0/1 Guage wiring from front Junction Boxes to 120AH Battery In Boot (battery removed because too small for alternator)

*140 Amp HO Alternator

Subwoofer level control is how much voltage the pre-out for the subwoofer puts out, keep it at +10.

I adjust my amps with it at 10 and if needed I will put it to 15 all does is lower your RCA volts so there is no good or bad its just a controller

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

For mine, in have the bass at -7 treble at +7 and the sub. at +10. it used to be at bass 0, treb. at 7 and sub 0. The former setting is the loudest. I havent had any problems with it. My amp doesnt even get warm when im beatin it.
