Techno_Allah Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Alright, first off I know NOTHING about Car Audio and setups so I won't be able to answer any super technical terms or even basic entry level stuff so bear with me. I'm here in America (I live abroad) and a friend of a friend has this (http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-11S15L7D2-Solo-Baric-Car-Subwoofer/dp/B004MX8KHQ/ref=pd_cp_e_0) for sale. He's selling it because he got another pair of subs or something and I can get this, still new one for around $250. While I've already pretty much bought it and about to bring it back home with me, I need help in selecting an approriate amplifier to play this thing properly. With something this costly, I know it isn't as easy as just matching watts on the speaker to watts what the amplifier can push, there's alot of technical stuff that goes along with this from what I've seen and I don't want to damage or blow this thing with an over powered or underpowered amp. Also keep in mind that in the near future I might add another identical subwoofer to the system I'm trying to create so an amp that could run the both of 'em would be nice..or is it just sensible to run a seperate amplifier for both woofers? Hope I made some sort of sense. Cheers.

hazestorm23 Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 OK so dual 2 ohm. So at first you can only run the sub at 1 ohm or 4. And when you add the second one you should run it at 2 ohms. Just find and amp that can do the power you need at 2 ohms. When you get the second sub make sure it has the same dual 2 ohm configuration. And about running each sub with its own amp will only work if you have 2 of the same amps and gain match them, otherwise one sub will over power the other.

A 'dual 2ohm' which I should be running at 1...or 4 ohm. I was more hoping to be advised on a specifc brand of amp that would work best with my speaker based off of user opinion and such...but I guess at this point not being able to discern what's good or bad at a technical level, I should just get a decent 2ohm amp and be satisfied. These 2 amps wil be your best bet unless you buy used. Both these amps put out more then rated power PROVEN!!!
