The head unit amplifier will distort a lot sooner than the preamp outputs. Typically, they'll distort at ~ half volume while the preamp outs won't distort until 80% or higher.

I guess I really need to get my components off the HU amp and get them on a component amp and use the front/rear preouts

Number two "with supplied harness"

wow how did I miss that.. I guess I can pull the HU out and use the harness to hook upto on the HU speaker outputs. I just need to get a component amp to run them

So new problem... I got my DD1 and I hooked the RCA ( from sub preout ) into DD1 ( completely flat ) (All filters are full range) I had no problem with detecting 40 Hz and got the HU clean upto 60/62 but when I did track 2 for the 1Khz it wouldn't detect it. I had no problem with the 40 Hz tuning my amp also. Just couldn't get it to detect the 1Khz on the HU.... Anyone else have this issue? Im going to try again tomorrow with a new 9V battery.

Normally a subwoofer preout will not play 1000hz, meaning you will not have a signal.

the 40hz track is for subwoofer preout

the 1000hz track is for the front/rear stage preouts that play midrange and tweeter frequencies

IE your "problem" is normal and not a problem at all. You would be hard pressed to find a headunit that will play anything over 300hz from the subwoofer preouts let alone 1000hz which is getting into a rather high range frequency

Thank you, I was just going by the manual how it said to repeat steps 3-5 on track 2 it didn't say anything about switching RCA preouts to rear or front. I guess I wasn't aware sub preout don't typically put out anything over 300hz. I know nobody would want a frequency that high for a subwoofer amplifier. Thanks again!
