Nubster Posted April 21, 2014 Author Report Posted April 21, 2014 Ok...with staying in the factory location...will the plastic grill affect the sound at all? I was wondering if I should mount the new tweeters in the exact same spot or remove the factory tweeters and surface mount the new ones to the plastic grill. That way they would be out of the dash and not covered by anything but in the factory location firing straight up into the glass.
Rck'nRF Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 from my years of building and listening to car audio. tweets (usually) sound best bouncing off glass. so option one or two would yield the best results. if you do option #2 face them more into the glass not across the dash. i hate tweets in doors! especially Down where option 4 is. the reason is people usually.push there knees I against the speaker pod. so option one or 2 but facing directly into the glass. +2million! What Aj11 says is pure Gold!Listen to him! Of all the 10 cars i have now owned im my yrs NO-thing beats 'highs' mingling with glass & bouncing off the front windsheild! The way GM did my 96 truck is beyond pure stupidity having the tweets in the lower doors BLOWING the highs directly right into my F'n ears & hurts like them like a bee-youch! When i get around to installing PROPER tweets into my truck they ARE going to be put into/onto the pillars and pitched toward the windshield.
