Pauly1987 Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I know it should be simple but I've never done this so better to ask before I blow things up haha Ok so I want to know how to go about charging my batteries in my truck!! 1 agm under the hood and one in the cab of the truck agm also! Both connected by two runs of kunu concept 0 gage positive! Singer 340amp alty to keep the system happy! Would I just throw the charger on the front battery and start charging or charge batteries separately? Do I leave the amps connected to the batteries? Or disconnect before charging? Last but not least which charger do I buy?
SnowDrifter Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Leave all your batteries connected. They will all charge at once As for chargers: This is a really nice one http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/microprocessor-controlled+battery+charger-maintainer.do ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

youngbass98 Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Is it a smart charger, dont want to be over charging. You leave everything connected btw Edit: just read the whole post I have this diehard battery charger/maintainer it is only 3a trickle charger it is great for only 50$ it auto goes into maintain mode when fully charger 06 monte carlo 2 12 rockford p3s soundstream rubicon 2500 crescendo audio mezzo 6.5 ct sounds 125.4 execution audio and shca wiring 2 xs d3400 on stock alt
SnowDrifter Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Yup. Set it and forget it. It will charge, go into float mode, and if needed to a drain/charge cycle to recondition your batteries. All automatic ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Pauly1987 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Report Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks snow I may just pick this thing up today after work!!! Also may be dumb but how often should I charge!! I rarely if ever drop below 14.2!
SnowDrifter Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Once every week or two should be plenty. You're just looking to top of the residual that your alternator doesn't ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

SnowDrifter Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Unless you drive for 6-8 hours straight your alts will never fully charge your battery. Yes it is the same procedure as far as charging goes. And being that you have 2 different battery constructions in your car, you'd want it plugged in whenever is convenient. Your front "normal" battery will have a lower resting voltage than your kinetik and as such, will discharge your rear battery any time the car is off ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
