devestator_x
Ok, so Im looking to run 2 Sundown E series 12" subs wired to 1 ohm. Looking for a budget amp to run them. Thought about a Rockford Fosgate Prime 1200/1, but I wonder if it would be too much for them (rated at 500rms each) We know Sundowns can take more than rated power, but we also know that Rockfords put out more than rated. It looks like I have 2 choices right now... Rockford Prime 1200/1 and Rockford Prime 750/1. When Steve dyno'd the 750/1 it did well over rated power and hit right around the 1000watt mark. Thats 33% over rated. If we assume the same gain for the 1200, thats 1596, so even rounding down, call it 1500. Is 500 extra way too much for these subs? I was originally thinking about a Soundqubed 1200D, but I like getting more for my money, so Im leaning more towards Rockfords now. No VS here, only looking at Rockfords powering/overpowering Sundown subs.
jarrius
With impediace rise voltage drop a You will not see a 1ohm load. I run a prime 1200 and the birth sheet said 1350 or so. Do I see that power hell no lol. But that's because of the Impedance change in the subs and my voltage drop. Now the E series may be rated at 500rms but if you put 600 to them it should not hurt them at allas long as you are not clipping or destroying. So IMO get the 1200 by RF or SQ and u will be happy. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
