GassenD Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 I'm planning on starting The Big 3 tomorrow after work, and want to clear up a few things before I do.. There's really no good spot I can do the Engine Ground to Chassis, unless I get up under my Explorer which I don't feel like doing. I was wondering if it was fine to do the normal Neg from Batt to ground, and then also do a ground from the bracket on the front of the Alternator to battery neg or chassis? Also is it okay to ground my 2nd battery in the back to my Floor Pan? I heard seat belt bolts were okay but figured there would be some resistance from the carpet.. If not where's a good spot? I can't really find a better spot.. '97 Explorer2 Sundown SA 15's SQ 2200D Kinetik KHC1800 (Front) Kinetik KHC 2000 (Back) KnuKonceptz 1/0 OFC 130A Alt + Big 3

Then don't do chassy to engine to stay clear of ground loops My youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/ghostlyrich Mazda 3 2006 Build (R.I.P) http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/172728-mazda-3-2006-stealth-build/ Volkswagen GTI 2011 Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192979-vw-gti-2011-build/ Jeep 2015 Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/201493-my-new-jeep-2015/
bassman619 Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 Yup battery to ground and engine to battery....alott of ppl like to ground rear batteries to the strut tower..take off a bolt from either rear strut sand the paint off and connect the gnd there and put the bolt back on..as for the alternator.. what I would do is remove one of the mounting bolts on the alternator..preferably whichever one is closest to the back side of the alternator and connect a ground cable there and put the bolt on and run that to either chassis or the strut tower. Make sure that ground is touching the alt casing. Also the existing cables you can also leave them in place..the current will automatically take the path of least resistance. in an explorer I believe you will have to remove a trim panel in the rear to access the strut tower. You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
