scooter99
Now back to this thing. Remove the bolt. Get out your pulley puller. Time to remove the anti balance. This was a pita. That little piece needs to come out of the shaft. Found out how to do it. I did it this way. Grabbed an old screwdriver. Ground off the edges, then used a hammer. scooter99
Tap down and lift up. It's not square, its a half moon shape. Then slide it off. There is a groove in it. This is on the bottom of the crank shaft. ALSO, DO NOT LOOSE THIS PART. THESE ARE HARD TO FIND, AND THEY'RE EXPENSIVE IF YOU DO FIND ONE!!! Here's the piece that the notch slide over. scooter99
Let's remove the timing cover. This is an absolute mess under here. Bolts more bolts Oil pan bolts up front. Need to see if I can clean this up, or if I just buy a new one. We'll see. Timing gears and chain. I think this is where my oil leak is coming from. I don't think it was the pan at all now. I think it was the side of the timing cover. This notch and the lower gear notch have to line up. Let's move the crank and line em up. scooter99
Boom! Remove the bolts, and then work it off. I used a pry bar, LIGHTLY, and then just worked the top and bottom gently until they slid right off. That's it. That's where I left off. I need to still pull the fuel rails, injectors, and intake manifold. Then I can either pull the heads, or pull the whole motor and work on it outside of the truck. I may do that so I can replace the oil pump and the oil pan gasket. I have one so why not. I'm trying to figure out how to get the whole front frame off. I'm pretty sure i see how to do it, but nothing confirmed yet. I'll pull the bumper too. That's it for now, I'll be back on it next week. Thanks for watching. goodvibez
Man that was very thorough lol! But best way to do it! For when it come time for reinstalling. Looking forward to seeing this back together and starting the real build lol! It's looking good so far buddy! Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! scooter99
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's been a minute since I've been on here. Life is BUUUUSSSSSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Ok so I had to go back and see where I left off lol! So here's where I'm at. I did finally get the driver side head off with minimal issues. It looks like I had a head gasket blow out into the valley at the intake side. Where it was at, it was sealed up so I wouldn't have been able to see it from the top. So that makes me feel better. I have the gaskets and stuff already because that's what we originally thought it was. I checked over the rods, rockers, valves, pistons, and really everything. Everything really doesn't look bad at all. I think what originally caused this, and I wish I could find the damn receipt cause I'd act on it, was I went to Autozone to find a spark plug when I was doing the headers. #7 didn't look good. Not terrible, but for being a fairly new plug it wasn't up to par for me. SO I went get a new one and the guy at Autozone gave me the wrong one. I was told it was burning too hot and that was causing issues. I don't know how accurate that is, but I can say that what it looks like after I pulled seems like it would be that way. It's black under the valves on that piston only. The rest of the valves and pistons look consistent with each other. Where the gasket blew out is in between both #6 and #7 but closer to the #7 side. So that would explain the lack of compression in #6 and way worse in #7. So, now I need to pull the passenger side head and take a look at it. If I'm going to do the driver side gasket I might as well do the other side since it's all torn apart. Another thing I found was that it doesn't appear to be the oil pan that is leaking as I thought. It appears that the timing cover gasket failed as well and that's where the oil leak was coming from. SO that's another good thing because now at this point I don't "HAVE" to pull the motor. Here's where I'm at. I'm going to pull the passenger side head. Then get them both cleaned up and I'll check em for warping. Hopefully I can go ahead and put them back on with out having to spend too much money. My plan is to get it all cleaned up, put it back together, and then clean up the motor. The reason I'm not going the extra miles on it, is that we're going to go ahead and sell it. I picked up my new to me 06 F250 CCSB Lariat with the 6.0 PS. It's black with grey leather interior. Very good shape as my brother and sister in law really took care of it. Just over 100K but it's been well maintained and runs beautifully! So because my time sucks, I'm going to go ahead and sell the beast, and the money I get from her will go into this one. Nothing major, small lift or just a level kit, rear bags, 20" wheels and tires, possibly a chip or programmer for when I tow etc. Tint all windows, and I am going to put a shell on it as well. I originally wasn't going to, but the more I look at it the less I see the ability to do anything sub wise inside. Don't want to cut it, so I'm thinking some how doing an enclosure with 2 or 4 12's and going into the rear window. But I'll plan it all out another time. I can't do anything till I get this one back together. So there you have it, everyone is up to date. I have pics to post of my work on the beast. I'll get those up tonight if I can. Let me know what you all think! I'm curious to hear it. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
